From micro-to macro, how can design respond to the pressing issues of the climate crisis? Upon the invitation of professor and architect Maria-Jesus Muñoz Pardo’s design studio and within the partnership between the polytechnic school of architecture and the Casa de Velazquez, first year students will participate in a one-month workshop entitled “l’Objet-Milieu”. The idea is to create an object that can address the city of Madrid and its inherent aridity. Students will create water containers and water receptacles that can collect, filter and store water from the abandoned “Viaje de Agua” network. Water conservation will be addressed at the territorial and domestic scales. The results will be part of a public exhibition at the Casa de Velasquez on February 23rd 2020.
